Fiber ONTs like the HG8245H usually use 192.168.100.1; the Wi-Fi AX3 uses 192.168.3.1. Older 4G firmware used admin / admin.
Common Huawei models
Defaults vary by firmware and by the ISP that supplied the device. Treat this table as a starting point and confirm with the label.
| Model | IP | Username | Password | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B535 (4G Router 3 Pro) | 192.168.8.1 | admin | admin or set at setup | 4G LTE |
| B818 (4G Router Prime) | 192.168.8.1 | admin | admin or set at setup | 4G LTE |
| E5577 / E5785 (Mobile WiFi) | 192.168.8.1 | admin | admin or on label | 4G hotspot |
| HG8245H (fiber ONT) | 192.168.100.1 | root | admin (ISPs often change it) | Fiber ONT |
| WiFi AX3 / AX3 Pro | 192.168.3.1 | — | set at first setup | Wi-Fi 6 |
How to log in
- Find the label on the device: it lists the management address and, on newer units, the admin password.
- Connect by Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Type the address (
192.168.8.1,192.168.100.1or192.168.3.1) in the browser. - Sign in. On first login, many models ask you to set a new password.
Many Huawei 4G routers and hotspots can also be managed with the HUAWEI AI Life app (earlier: HUAWEI SmartHome). Not every model or region supports it.
4G routers: set the APN
- Log in at
192.168.8.1. - Open the mobile network settings and find APN management or Profile management.
- Create a new profile with the APN your carrier publishes for data devices or home internet.
- Save it, set it as the default and restart the router.
Fiber ONTs (HG8245H and similar)
- Address: usually
192.168.100.1. - Login: often reported as
root/admin, but many ISPs change it or hide most settings. - Mode: typically routing (NAT, DHCP and Wi-Fi on). Some ISPs can switch it to bridge mode so your own router does the routing.
- Reset caution: a factory reset can remove the ISP configuration. Contact the ISP first.
Change the Wi-Fi password on Huawei
- Open Wi-Fi, WLAN or Wi-Fi settings, depending on the model.
- Find the basic or security settings for each band.
- Choose WPA2-PSK (or WPA2/WPA3 where available) and enter a new key.
- Save and reconnect your devices.
Frequently asked questions
Why do Huawei routers use different IP addresses?
Huawei makes very different kinds of devices, and each family has its own default. 4G/5G routers and Mobile WiFi hotspots (B535, B818, E5577, E5785) typically use 192.168.8.1. Fiber ONTs installed by ISPs (HG8245H and similar) commonly use 192.168.100.1. Home Wi-Fi routers such as the WiFi AX3 use 192.168.3.1. ISP-branded units can be reconfigured, so the label on your device, or the "Default Gateway" on your computer, is the reliable source.
Can I buy or use a Huawei router in the US?
Huawei is on the FCC’s Covered List of communications equipment deemed a national security risk, and the FCC no longer authorizes new Huawei networking equipment for the US market. In practice, Huawei routers are not sold by US retailers or supplied by US ISPs. They remain common in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, where ISPs often supply Huawei ONTs and 4G/5G routers. If you are in the US with a Huawei device bought abroad, note that its LTE bands may not match US carriers well.
What is the Huawei HG8245H login?
The HG8245H is a fiber ONT (optical network terminal) with built-in router and Wi-Fi, supplied by many ISPs outside the US. Its management page is usually at 192.168.100.1. Commonly reported defaults are username root and password admin, but ISPs frequently change these or restrict the account, and some units have credentials on the label. If the defaults do not work, ask your ISP rather than resetting, because a reset can erase the fiber provisioning and leave you offline until the ISP restores it.
My Huawei 4G router has signal but no internet. What should I check?
Check three things. (1) The SIM is active and has a data plan. (2) The APN is correct: go to the mobile network or APN profile settings and enter the APN your carrier publishes for data devices. Without the right APN the router shows signal bars but cannot connect. (3) Signal quality: the device information page shows values such as RSRP and SINR. Very weak readings mean you should move the router near a window or use external antennas if your model has antenna ports.
