mynetworksettings.com The Fios admin password is unique to each router and printed on its label. It is not the same as the Wi-Fi password.
Verizon Fios routers
Verizon has supplied several generations of Fios routers: older Actiontec units, the
Fios Quantum Gateway (G1100), the Fios Router (G3100)
and newer models such as the CR1000A. Newer routers are added over time,
so read the model on the label. All recent models follow the same pattern: 192.168.1.1,
username admin, and an admin password on the label.
| Credential | Where to find it | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Admin password | Router label | Signing in at 192.168.1.1 |
| Wi-Fi network name and password | Router label (until changed) | Connecting devices |
| Verizon account | Your Verizon sign-in | My Fios app, billing |
How to log in to a Fios router
1. Connect to the router
Join the Fios Wi-Fi or connect by Ethernet to a LAN port. Turn off mobile data on a phone and disconnect any VPN.
2. Open 192.168.1.1 or mynetworksettings.com
Type either address into the browser address bar. The address
mynetworksettings.com is resolved by the router itself, so it only works while
you are connected to a compatible Fios router.
3. Sign in
Enter admin as the username and the admin password from the label. If the
label password is rejected, someone has changed it. You can reset the router to restore it.
4. Explore the settings
The dashboard shows the internet status, connected devices and Wi-Fi networks. Menus for Wi-Fi, firewall and advanced settings let you change the network name, set up port forwarding and adjust DNS settings. Menu names vary between router generations.
The My Fios app
Verizon's My Fios app covers the common tasks without needing the admin password:
- View and change the Wi-Fi network name and password
- See connected devices and restrict or pause access
- Restart the router and run network troubleshooting
- Manage Verizon extenders where you have them
For general steps that apply to any router, see how to change your Wi-Fi password.
Using your own router with Fios
Fios is one of the easier US services for bringing your own router, because the fiber terminates in a separate optical network terminal (ONT), usually mounted in a garage, basement or utility closet. The Verizon router connects to the ONT, typically by Ethernet. To use your own router, connect it to the ONT instead. If your ONT feeds the router by coax, ask Verizon to enable the ONT's Ethernet port.
When you swap routers, the ONT may hold on to the previous router's IP lease for a while. Releasing the connection from the Verizon router before unplugging it, or restarting the ONT, usually speeds this up. If you subscribe to Fios TV with set-top boxes, keep in mind that they depend on the Verizon router for some features. See modem vs router for the general concepts.
Common Fios router problems
No internet but Wi-Fi works
Check the cable between the ONT and the router and look at the ONT status lights. Restart the router first, then the ONT if needed. The My Fios app can also check for outages.
Admin password not accepted
Make sure you are not entering the Wi-Fi password. If both fail, the admin password was changed; a factory reset restores the label value.
Slow Wi-Fi in some rooms
Fios plans often deliver more speed than Wi-Fi can carry through walls. See how to speed up Wi-Fi and consider Verizon extenders or a mesh system.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Verizon Fios router login?
Fios routers use 192.168.1.1. On current models you can also type mynetworksettings.com while connected to your home network; older Fios Quantum Gateways used myfiosgateway.com. The username is admin and the admin password is printed on the router label. Older Actiontec routers from the early Fios years used different defaults, so if the label has no admin password, check the router's documentation.
Where is the Verizon router admin password?
On the label of the router, usually on the side or back, listed separately from the Wi-Fi network name and Wi-Fi password. Each router has its own. If you changed the admin password and forgot it, a factory reset restores the label password, but also removes your custom settings. See forgot router password for other options.
Can I use my own router with Verizon Fios?
For internet service, generally yes. Fios delivers internet from an optical network terminal (ONT) installed in your home, and a third-party router can connect to the ONT's Ethernet port. If your ONT is connected to the Verizon router by coax instead of Ethernet, Verizon may need to switch the ONT to Ethernet first. Release the IP lease or restart the ONT when swapping routers. The main caveat is Fios TV: older set-top boxes rely on the Verizon router (over coax/MoCA) for the program guide and on-demand features, so TV customers often keep the Verizon router in the setup.
Does Verizon Fios have bridge mode?
Fios routers do not have a simple bridge mode toggle like many cable gateways. Because the ONT is a separate box, the usual approach is to connect your own router directly to the ONT and, if needed, keep the Verizon router behind it for TV services. Configurations for keeping Fios TV working with a third-party router exist, but they are more involved and vary by equipment, so check with Verizon if you have TV service.
What does the My Fios app do?
The My Fios app lets you manage your Fios account and home network: view and change the Wi-Fi name and password, see connected devices, restart the router and troubleshoot. It uses your Verizon account rather than the router admin password, and it works only with Verizon-supplied routers.
Why does mynetworksettings.com not load?
That address only works on a network served by a compatible Fios router, because the router resolves it locally. If you are on mobile data, a VPN, a different router, or an older Fios gateway, use 192.168.1.1 instead. If neither loads, follow the can't access router checklist.
