General principles
19216811.router.mobi is an independent informational project, part of router.mobi, published by the 19216811.router.mobi editorial team. Its purpose is to help people set up, secure and troubleshoot their home routers and Wi-Fi networks. Accuracy comes first: a short page that is correct is more useful than a long one that guesses.
How guides are written
- Start from a real question. Topics come from common searches and from reader emails. If an existing guide already covers the question, that guide is updated instead of publishing a near-duplicate.
- Gather the facts from primary sources. Default IP addresses, credentials and procedures are checked against official documentation. Information that can't be traced to a reliable source is left out.
- Write for the reader. The English edition is written for an English- speaking audience, with US internet providers and terminology, rather than translated from the Italian edition.
- Review before publishing. Each guide is reviewed for technical accuracy and clarity before it goes live.
- Publish with dates. Every guide shows its publication date and, when relevant, the date of its last update.
Sources
Technical information on the site comes from:
- Manufacturer documentation: user manuals, quick-start guides, product labels and official support articles from router makers such as TP-Link, ASUS, Netgear, D-Link, AVM, Huawei, ZTE and Tenda.
- Internet provider documentation: official help pages from providers such as Xfinity, Spectrum, AT&T, Verizon, Cox and T-Mobile.
- Public specifications and standards: IETF RFCs (for example, the private address ranges defined in RFC 1918), IEEE 802.11 and Wi-Fi Alliance material, and FCC consumer guidance where relevant.
Router defaults vary by model, hardware revision, firmware and provider. When that is the case, guides say so and tell you to check the label on your device rather than presenting a single value as universal.
Guides do not claim hands-on testing of devices. Where a reader report helps clarify a detail, it is checked against official sources before it changes a guide.
Corrections and updates
- Reader reports. Errors reported to [email protected] are reviewed and, if confirmed, corrected.
- Periodic review. The most-used guides are revisited to check that the steps still match current firmware and provider equipment.
- Visible dates. When a guide changes in substance (not just a typo fix), its "last updated" date changes too.
Independence
- No sponsored content. The site does not publish sponsored articles, paid reviews or advertorials.
- No paid links. Links to other sites are included only because they are useful to the reader.
- No affiliation. The site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any router manufacturer or internet provider.
- No advertising or affiliate programs. The site currently runs no ads and uses no affiliate links. If that ever changes, this page and the affected guides will say so clearly.
Trademarks
Brand, product and company names mentioned on the site are trademarks of their respective owners. They are used only to identify the devices and services a guide refers to.
Limits of the information
Guides are provided for general information. Despite careful review, they can't cover every model, firmware version or network setup. Before major changes such as firmware updates, factory resets or replacing a provider's gateway, also check the official documentation for your device or contact your provider. See the terms of use for details.
Copyright
The original text on the site is protected by copyright. Short quotations with a link to the source are welcome; republishing whole guides without permission is not.
